San Francisco weekend

As I mentioned in my previous post, this past weekend I went to San Francisco and I saw some of my awesome friends, stayed at a really cool Hotel in the City, went to the Ferry Building for the usual bread/cheese/coffee combo, got some legendary Chinese food at Nan King and some awesome sushi at the sushi boat restaurant. As Stephen Colbert would say, "Great trip... or Greatest trip?!!"

Snow in Canada before leaving

Man it's cold in Canada!

Good times

Sushi Boat restaurant I went to with John Yee, and he ate this set right after I took the picture

Possibly the funniest thing all weekend, the sushi boat restaurant sends around other stuff that is not sushi on the boats. Like this slice of cheesecake, which seems so out of place.

My Hotel

Hahahaha!!!!!!!!! Ok so these hotels are nuts, and they have animal-pattern robes in the rooms that you can wear. Obviously I had to meet the customs of the hotel.

Cool mirror

Beautiful weather!! It was -35 Celcius in Toronto, and 19 Celcius in San Francisco!!

I stayed in Jerry Garcia's Hotel Room

This was nuts. I was in San Francisco this weekend and I stayed at the Hotel Triton (it was awwessooome!!!!!) When I arrived they told me that I had been "upgraded" - to a Celebrity Suite!!!!!!!! Amazing. So I got to stay in the Jerry Garcia room, and his original artwork was on the wall along with his signature and photos and more. It was SO cool. I'll post more pics from San Francisco in the next post.

A personal note from the front desk making sure I was happy!!

Dave Matthews on House next week

This is just awesome. Dave Matthews is going to be on House next week. I haven't really had time to get into House but I've seen it a few times and it always seems very good. Why is Dave Matthews the Best Musician of all time?!?! Perhaps we'll never know.

Also I hear there is a new Dave Matthews Band studio album in the works, and yes, I am excited.

Snow Afternoon!

Today we had a sort of pseudo-snow-day at Waterloo! I had 8:30am class this morning, and then did some homework and then had class until 2:30. By 2:30 it was a huge blizzard outside, snow everywhere, lots of wind and so on. Soon after it started to hail and since then there has been a whole bunch of freezing rain!! Crazy!! Freezing rain is especially nuts because it turns the roads into ice. It's going to be somewhere between -1 and 1 degree overnight, so it's possible the ice will all be there tomorrow too. If so it will probably be a snow day tomorrow as well. Crazy!!

Check out this notice from the Waterloo website. This is the second snow day this term!!
The University of Waterloo closed at 3:30 p.m. Thursday because of the winter weather currently attacking southern Ontario. That means evening classes, as well as other events and any midterm exams, were cancelled at the Waterloo and Cambridge campuses. Libraries and other services are closed, and "nonessential" night shift staff should not come to work. Officials expect the university will reopen Friday morning in the usual way, but any further announcements will be posted in this space.
Canada is nuts.
