When published in France, Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel Persepolis, the story of growing up in Iran during the Islamic revolution and war with Iraq, garnered comparisons to Art Spiegelman’s Maus, and won several prestigious comic book awards. So again I am insanely lucky to be living in San Francisco. Marjane Satrapi is coming to talk here in a few months!! Sooooo awesome. Persepolis has been recently made into an animated film, and shared the Jury Prize at Cannes this year, and has been submitted as the Best Foreign Film entry from France this year. Pretty amazing stuff. And pretty cool to get a chance to hear the author talk. This is going to be ammmaazzzing!!!!!!!!!
“You've never seen anything like Persepolis – Marjane Satrapi may have given us a new genre.” – Gloria Steinem
